FAQ

Character illustration FAQs.

Helpful answers before we start drawing.

Can you work with my existing character?

Yes. Share your current artwork and reference sheets. We’ll review what needs to stay consistent and what you’d like to develop, whether that means creating fresh turnaround sheets, updating outfits, or drawing them in new poses and expressions.

Can I request extra poses and expressions?

Absolutely. We can expand your project scope to include expression studies (showing emotion and personality) as well as alternative poses, action shots, or costume variations. We’ll define and agree on the exact number of deliverables before we start sketching.

What do you need from me to get started?

All we need is a creative brief! Helpful details include:

  • Story & Personality: A short description of who your character is and their background.

  • Project Context & Audience: Where the character will be used (e.g., books, comics, games, or branding) and who it’s meant for.

  • Visual References: Any moodboards, color palettes, existing art, or style inspirations you like.

Are editable source files included?

Deliverables depend on your agreed project scope. We always provide polished, high-resolution final illustrations in standard formats (such as PNG or JPEG). If your pipeline requires layered source files (such as PSD), simply let us know during the initial brief so we can include them in your specifications.

Do I own full commercial rights to the artwork?

Yes. Once final payment is completed, you receive full commercial rights to use the character illustrations for your intended project—whether that is publishing a comic or book, integrating assets into a video game, or using them in merchandise and brand marketing.

Can I use these character sheets for 3D modeling or animation?

Yes, absolutely. If you are planning to translate your character into 3D, let us know in your brief. We can produce standard T-pose or A-pose turnaround sheets (front, side, three-quarter, and back views) alongside clean callouts for accessories and clothing layers to make the 3D modeling process seamless.

How many revisions are included during the project?

We build feedback directly into our 4-step process. Major structural changes and silhouette adjustments happen during the initial sketch and exploration phase (Step 2). Once the visual direction is approved, we move into color, detailing, and final polish (Step 3), where you can request minor color and detail refinements before final delivery.

What happens if I don’t like the initial concept sketches?

That is exactly what the Explore phase is for. We provide rough sketches and silhouette variations early on so we can pinpoint what resonates with you before committing to full line art and coloring. Your feedback guides the direction until the foundation feels right.

Do you also illustrate backgrounds and full scene environments?

While this service specializes in character design, expression studies, and model sheets, we can certainly incorporate background elements or design full contextual scenes for book covers and promotional art. Be sure to mention environmental requirements in your initial brief so we can scope it accordingly.
